:Schone zaken
We asked the ´schone zaken´ in Groningen some questions for this interview, of which we will show their answers below.
Sustainable means for them, natural products, various types of wool, recycling, a clean production process and fairtrade.
25 years ago the woman (Joke Ottevangers) who started ´schone zaken´ came to the idea to open a clothing store because she was totaly in schock of what she saw at the clothing fairs. She absolutely did not want to sell such clothes from low-wage countries. It took her 2 years before she could find enough products that she wanted to sell in a socially and environmentally friendly manner.
We were also very curious of what kind of people would come to her store. She said, ´there are mainly people who find the social and environmentally friendly story behind the products important, who simply love beautiful quality clothing and / or natural fabrics, people who don´t only want hip and trendy, but also appreciate timeless clothing´.
Just because it is ecological does not mean it has higher prices, because they sell quality and have consciously chosen not to sell cheap disposable quality. But what is expensive? ´It differs where you compare it, if you compare us with Zara, H&M or the Primark, we are more expensive´.
We also wanted to know ´how do you keep an eye on whether it is ecological or not´. Their answer was, ´we have been working for 23 years with people who use the same criteria as us, quality marks and certifications on the entire production process by original bodies. And good relationships with producers, but it's a matter of relationships and trust´.
The motivation for such a store was mainly quality clothing that you can still be seen in in a few years and they also wanted to offer an alternative in the disposable world of fashion!

Our opinions about the store :
Raven : I would buy clothes from them if I like it.
Suri : I wouldn't buy it at this moment because the clothes cost more money and right now I don't have it. So I would rather go to a cheaper store but I still think its good that they have stores like that.
Lonneke : I think its good that they have ecological stores and I would buy the clothes.
Mandy : I agree with Raven. I also would buy it if I like it and I also think that the idea is very good.

The sketch of the mask
So, we chose to make a face mask out of old clothes. We chose a shirt to make this mask. The reason why we did this is because of the pandemic that is going on now, and we see a lot of face mask in the environment. So this is way better for the environment. With this example you can see that you still can recyle in bad times.

Video confrences
The video conference went well. We asked question to them and they to us. It was nice to meet them and talk to them.
Our conclusion
In the beginning they made an introduction also about the school. We only did about ourselves. The introduction about ourselves looks a lot a like. We all had some information with a photo. The interviews look really different. We wrote everything done and asked question via the mail. The Indian group called with someone and made a video about it. The things what we made also looks very different. We made one face mask with eachother and they made a lot of different things ( Probably because they can’t work together at the moment) We thought that what they made looked really nice J The communication sadly didn’t went really well from both sides. We think that is a thing that could go better :)
